Our latest project shows how a worn-out lakefront carport and shed can become a beautiful, two-car garage with a brand-new insulated 3” thick 4’ wide panels roof. — all from the ground up.
The homeowner started with an open carport, a small shed, and a single-skin roof that offered little protection from Florida heat. We demolished the existing structure and poured a larger, reinforced concrete slab to carry the weight of a fully enclosed garage plus a deeper carport.
Pressure-treated 2 × 6 framing, hurricane clips, and OSB sheathing create a strong shell that’s ready for Florida’s high-wind requirements.
The insulated aluminum roof keeps vehicles and entryways up to 15 °F cooler than a single-skin pan, adds stiffness, and deadens rain noise.
New vinyl siding and stone skirting blend perfectly with the home, while matching gutters and downspouts manage roof runoff toward the lake.
We helped arrange the door install and the electrical work. Also installed a setup with battery backup if power is lost. Had to install a side mount because there wasn’t enough headroom for a regular one above the door.
